Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Educator to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in ensuring the highest standards of patient care through comprehensive staff training and professional development. The Nurse Educator will be responsible for assessing educational needs, developing curriculum, and delivering engaging training programs for our nursing staff across various hospital departments. This position operates Monday through Friday, focusing on enhancing clinical competency, fostering a culture of evidence-based practice, and supporting the professional growth of our nurses. You will play a pivotal role in onboarding new hires, implementing new policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and training modules for nursing staff.
  • Conduct comprehensive orientation programs for new nursing hires.
  • Identify learning needs and competency gaps among nursing staff through assessment and feedback.
  • Provide clinical expertise and mentorship to nurses at all levels of experience.
  • Facilitate in-service education sessions, workshops, and simulations on a variety of clinical topics.
  • Ensure all educational activities align with current evidence-based practices, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., TJC, DNV, state board of nursing).
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and department managers to address specific training needs and improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of educational activities, attendance, and competency evaluations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees.
  • Stay current with advances in nursing practice, healthcare technology, and educational methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact state.
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a dedicated education or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and educational methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering engaging educational content.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE) or in a clinical specialty.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
  • Previous experience in a large hospital system.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program evaluation.
