Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated After-School Program Aide with a strong childcare focus to join our team in Warwick, RI. This part-time position operates Monday through Friday, primarily during after-school hours. The ideal candidate will assist in supervising children, leading activities, and ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all participants. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, even with no prior experience in a formal setting, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during various after-school activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assist in planning and implementing engaging educational, recreational, and creative activities appropriate for various age groups.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment where all children feel welcome and supported.
- Help maintain program areas, ensuring they are clean, organized, and safe for all participants.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with program coordinators, parents, and children.
- Model appropriate behavior and act as a positive role model for youth in our care.
- Assist with snack distribution, clean-up, and other program-related tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Genuine interest and passion for working with children and youth.
- Ability to communicate clearly, patiently, and empathetically with children, parents, and staff.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and commitment to consistency.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of child development principles and positive guidance techniques.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a childcare, youth development, or educational setting (volunteer or paid).
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Knowledge of various recreational activities, arts & crafts, or educational games.
- Some college coursework in education, child development, social work, or a related field.
