Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically capable Carpet Fitting Offsider to join our dynamic installation team in Newark, Delaware. This role involves assisting experienced carpet fitters with all aspects of carpet installation in residential and commercial settings. It’s a hands-on, manual labor position that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead carpet fitters with the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
- Prepare work areas by moving furniture, removing old flooring, and cleaning subfloors.
- Cut and lay underlayment, ensuring proper placement and adhesion.
- Help measure, cut, and stretch carpet according to specifications.
- Support fitters with seaming, trimming, and finishing tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning up debris and waste.
- Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment under supervision.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support installation projects.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a general labor, construction, or installation role is a plus, but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
