Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Liverpool. This critical role involves setting up, operating, and programming CNC machines to produce high-precision components essential for our luxury vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to quality and safety. This position offers support for a Skilled Worker Visa for qualified international candidates looking to build a career in the UK’s thriving automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning machines (e.g., Fanuc, Heidenhain controls).
- Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for complex components using CAM software.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications with high accuracy.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
- Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, making necessary adjustments to programs or setups.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to continuously improve processes and product quality.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer.
- Proficiency in CNC programming using G-code and M-code.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining principles.
- Experience with various CAM software (e.g., SolidCAM, Mastercam, Siemens NX).
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to quality and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (e.g., HNC/HND).
- Experience with 5-axis machining.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Previous experience in the automotive or aerospace industry.
