Job Description

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is seeking an enthusiastic Eco-Tourism Lodge Assistant to join our team at a secluded, breathtaking lodge. This unique opportunity places you at the heart of an eco-conscious operation in a remote natural setting, where you’ll contribute to the daily operations, guest satisfaction, and environmental initiatives. Accommodation is provided on-site, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in this unparalleled environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the lodge, supporting guests in their exploration of the natural surroundings, and upholding our commitment to sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with guest check-ins, orientations, and departures, ensuring a welcoming and informative arrival/departure experience.
- Provide comprehensive information to guests about local flora, fauna, hiking trails, and sustainable practices.
- Support daily lodge operations, including light cleaning, tidying common areas, and preparing guest amenities.
- Help coordinate and facilitate outdoor activities such as guided walks, wildlife viewing, and nature education programs.
- Monitor and maintain eco-friendly lodge systems, including waste management, recycling, and energy conservation efforts.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks around the lodge and property to ensure safety and functionality.
- Handle guest inquiries, requests, and concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
- Support inventory management for guest supplies, activity equipment, and general lodge necessities.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a cohesive and positive working environment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures for a remote location.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for nature, wildlife, and environmental conservation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a remote setting.
- Basic knowledge of outdoor safety and first aid principles.
- Physical stamina and comfort with working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities and a positive, adaptable attitude.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality, eco-tourism, or outdoor education.
- Wilderness First Aid or equivalent certification.
- Knowledge of local ecology, geology, or indigenous cultures.
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
- Experience with sustainable living practices or off-grid systems.
