Job Description
Are you looking for a challenging yet rewarding role in a fast-paced environment? Tesco is seeking dedicated Freezer Room Pickers to join our distribution team in Warrington. This vital role involves accurately picking and packing customer orders within a sub-zero temperature environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the correct items are picked, maintained in optimal condition, and prepared for dispatch. Due to the unique working conditions, we offer premium rates of pay to acknowledge your commitment and resilience. Full protective thermal clothing and comprehensive training will be provided to ensure your safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and pack products in a freezer environment, adhering to strict quality and quantity guidelines.
- Operate Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) such as pallet trucks, safely and efficiently, once trained.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the freezer and picking areas.
- Ensure all products are handled with care to prevent damage and maintain product integrity.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety procedures, especially those related to working in cold conditions.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate stock levels and reporting any discrepancies.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily targets and operational demands.
Required Skills
- Ability to work comfortably and safely in sub-zero temperatures for extended periods.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift and move products regularly.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in order picking.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading picking lists and counting stock.
- Commitment to adhering to health and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or picking role.
- Experience operating Manual Handling Equipment (e.g., pump trucks, pallet trucks).
- Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
