Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice & Palliative Care Nurse to join our team in Ealing. This vital role involves providing expert nursing care, comfort, and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care, focusing on symptom management, emotional support, and maintaining dignity and quality of life. Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic nursing care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, focusing on comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualised care plans, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
- Administer medications, manage symptoms, and monitor patient responses in accordance with established protocols.
- Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, fostering a compassionate and respectful environment.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient records.
- Educate patients and families on disease progression, treatment options, and palliative care strategies.
- Act as an advocate for patients' needs and wishes, ensuring their preferences are respected.
- Participate in regular team meetings, case reviews, and continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or eligibility for registration if applying for sponsorship.
- A degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in palliative care, hospice care, oncology, or a related field (minimum 2 years post-registration experience is desirable, but strong interest in palliative care will be considered for sponsorship candidates).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a diverse team.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-registration qualification or specialist course in palliative care, oncology, or end-of-life care.
- Experience in symptom management for complex conditions.
- Knowledge of the UK healthcare system and regulatory requirements (for international candidates).
