Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Hydrology / Drainage Engineer to join our dynamic Water and Environment team in Wimbledon, London. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a strong background in hydrology and drainage design to contribute to challenging and impactful projects across the UK and internationally. We are open to supporting visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates who demonstrate the required skills and experience. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of projects, including flood risk management, urban drainage, SuDS design, and water resource management, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological analysis and flood risk assessments for a range of infrastructure projects.
  • Design and model urban drainage systems, including SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems).
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal project teams.
  • Utilize industry-standard software for hydrological and hydraulic modeling (e.g., InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, MicroDrainage).
  • Contribute to tender proposals and project bids.
  • Undertake site visits and surveys as required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, MicroDrainage).
  • Demonstrable experience in flood risk assessment, drainage design, and SuDS implementation.
  • Strong understanding of UK drainage design standards and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status (MICE or equivalent) or working towards it.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Knowledge of water quality assessment and environmental impact assessment.
  • Previous experience working on major infrastructure projects.
