Job Description
Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for creative artistry and a willingness to work in a challenging, cold environment? Occasions Caterers is seeking a dedicated Ice Sculpting Assistant to join our dynamic events team. This role is crucial in supporting our master ice sculptors, ensuring the creation, transportation, and impeccable presentation of stunning ice features for high-profile events across the region. You will be an integral part of transforming raw ice into breathtaking art, contributing to the magic of our client’s most special occasions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist master ice sculptors in the preparation and carving of ice blocks for various event designs.
- Safely transport large ice blocks and finished sculptures to event venues, requiring heavy lifting and careful handling.
- Set up and dismantle ice displays at event sites, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
- Maintain and clean ice sculpting tools and equipment, ensuring readiness for next projects.
- Work efficiently and safely in cold temperatures within a freezer environment or during outdoor installations.
- Support the team with general event setup and teardown as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly.
- Comfortable working for extended periods in cold environments (freezers, outdoor winter events).
- Strong attention to detail and a steady hand.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures for tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work collaboratively in a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labor role, construction, or event setup.
- Basic artistic aptitude or experience with carving/sculpting materials.
- Knowledge of different types of ice and their properties.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
