Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Industrial Electrician to join our team in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. This is a critical role responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous and safe operation of our facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls in industrial environments.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and make necessary modifications to improve operational efficiency and safety.
- Connect power to machinery and equipment following safety codes and regulations.
- Work safely and efficiently, adhering to all company policies and provincial electrical codes.
- Collaborate with other tradespersons and engineers to complete projects and resolve technical issues.
- Document maintenance and repair activities accurately.
- Respond to emergency call-outs as required.
Required Skills
- Completion of a recognized industrial electrician apprenticeship program.
- Possession of an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Electrician Certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician in a heavy industrial setting (e.g., power generation, manufacturing, mining).
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting industrial control systems, motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Familiarity with high voltage electrical systems.
- Experience in power generation or utility environments.
- Safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, CPR, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection).
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
