Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Shopify Business Analyst to join our growing e-commerce team. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions on our Shopify Plus platform. You will be instrumental in defining, analyzing, and documenting requirements for new features, optimizations, and integrations that enhance our online customer journey and drive sales growth. Your focus will be on developing and executing e-commerce strategies that leverage Shopify’s capabilities to their fullest, improving conversion rates, average order value, and overall site performance. This role requires a deep understanding of Shopify’s ecosystem, strong analytical skills, and a passion for e-commerce innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders (marketing, product, operations, IT) to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for Shopify enhancements and new initiatives.
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable functional specifications and user stories for development teams.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of e-commerce performance data (sales, traffic, conversion rates) to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement on the Shopify platform.
- Define and refine Shopify configurations, apps, and themes to support strategic business objectives and optimize the user experience.
- Participate in the full project lifecycle, from ideation and planning to testing, deployment, and post-launch analysis.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and new Shopify features to recommend innovative solutions and maintain our competitive edge.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Shopify capabilities, educating internal teams and providing guidance on best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to Shopify processes, features, and configurations.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, specifically with Shopify or other major e-commerce platforms (Shopify Plus preferred).
- Strong understanding of e-commerce principles, website analytics, and digital marketing strategies.
- Proficiency in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements.
- Experience with A/B testing, CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization), and UX/UI best practices for e-commerce.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven recommendations.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum).
- Proficiency with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with third-party Shopify apps and integrations (e.g., ERP, CRM, marketing automation).
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and Liquid (Shopify's templating language).
- Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA).
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail or consumer goods environment.
