Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Laboratory Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Lincoln, Nebraska. In this crucial on-site role, you will be responsible for the calibration, preventative maintenance, and repair of a wide array of laboratory instrumentation. This position requires a meticulous approach to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance of critical scientific equipment used in research and diagnostics. You will play a vital role in supporting our scientific community, troubleshooting complex issues, and maintaining strict compliance with quality standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine calibration, preventative maintenance, and functional testing on laboratory instrumentation (e.g., centrifuges, incubators, pipettes, spectrophotometers, chromatographs).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and software malfunctions in a variety of scientific equipment.
  • Execute repairs, replace faulty components, and ensure instruments are returned to operational specifications.
  • Accurately document all service activities, including calibration results, maintenance records, and repair logs, adhering to company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and test equipment, ensuring availability for immediate use.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to laboratory personnel regarding instrument operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, quality standards (e.g., ISO 17025, GMP, GLP), and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve instrumentation issues and improve service efficiency.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with new technologies and methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in calibrating, maintaining, and repairing complex laboratory or industrial instrumentation.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
  • Fundamental understanding of calibration principles and metrology standards (e.g., ISO 17025).
  • Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service requests efficiently.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Mechatronics, or a related scientific/engineering field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician, ISCET Certified Electronics Technician).
  • Experience with specific analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, or flow cytometers.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Prior experience in a regulated environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, clinical, or research lab).
