Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Nurse Consultant to join our dynamic legal team. This 100% remote position offers the flexibility to work from home while providing critical medical-legal expertise to support our litigation and transactional practices. The Legal Nurse Consultant will play a pivotal role in reviewing medical records, analyzing complex medical information, and providing expert insights to attorneys and paralegals. Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze medical records, hospital policies, and other health-related documents to identify strengths and weaknesses of a case.
  • Summarize medical records, create chronologies, and develop timelines of medical events.
  • Identify deviations from and adherence to standards of care.
  • Educate attorneys and legal staff on medical issues, terminology, and healthcare standards.
  • Assist in identifying and preparing expert witnesses, including healthcare providers.
  • Conduct medical literature searches and integrate findings into case analysis.
  • Identify potential damages, causation, and contributing factors in medical-legal cases.
  • Prepare reports, memoranda, and other documents outlining medical findings and opinions.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to develop case strategies and prepare for depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Stay current with medical trends, healthcare regulations, and legal precedents relevant to the role.

Required Skills

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (Florida license preferred, or ability to obtain).
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct patient care clinical experience.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and summarizing complex medical records.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
  • Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (CLNC) certification.
  • Previous experience in a legal nurse consulting role or direct legal support.
  • Experience in a specific clinical specialty such as critical care, emergency medicine, or orthopedics.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
