Job Description
Berklee Online is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Music Technology Tutor with a strong focus on Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and music software. This is a remote, part-time position designed to support our students in mastering the technical aspects of music production. You will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions, guiding students through various DAWs (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, FL Studio) and related plugins, virtual instruments, and audio processing techniques. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in music production workflows, problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled one-on-one and small group remote tutoring sessions with students.
- Provide expert guidance and support on various DAWs including Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, FL Studio, and others.
- Assist students with troubleshooting software issues, optimizing workflows, and understanding advanced production techniques.
- Develop customized learning plans based on individual student needs and course requirements.
- Review student projects, provide constructive feedback, and demonstrate best practices.
- Stay current with updates and new features in leading music production software.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
- Collaborate with course instructors and academic advisors to ensure student success.
Required Skills
- Expert proficiency in at least two major DAWs (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, FL Studio).
- Strong understanding of music theory, audio engineering principles, and production techniques.
- Experience with various VST/AU plugins, virtual instruments, and effects processing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and pedagogical skills.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot common software and hardware issues related to music production.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet workspace for remote sessions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Production, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience in online education or remote tutoring.
- Certifications in specific DAWs or music technology software.
- Experience with music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale) or advanced synthesis techniques.
- Portfolio demonstrating practical music production skills.
