Job Description
Are you a passionate film student or recent graduate with an encyclopedic knowledge of film and TV genres? Do you possess a keen eye for detail and a love for categorizing content? Netflix is seeking an enthusiastic Entry-Level Genre Specialist to join our Content Operations team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate categorization and tagging of our vast library of films and series, helping millions of subscribers discover their next favorite watch. You will contribute directly to the enhanced user experience by ensuring content is discoverable and categorized intelligently.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and categorize new and existing film and TV content based on predefined genre taxonomies.
- Apply accurate metadata tags, including genre, sub-genre, thematic elements, and tone.
- Conduct quality control checks on genre classifications to maintain consistency and accuracy across the platform.
- Collaborate with content acquisition, programming, and product teams to refine categorization strategies.
- Research and stay up-to-date with emerging content trends, audience preferences, and new genre definitions.
- Provide feedback and contribute to the evolution of our internal genre classification tools and guidelines.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for film, television, and digital entertainment content.
- Exceptional understanding of various film and TV genres, sub-genres, and thematic elements.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify nuances in content.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with data entry tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Film Studies, Media Arts, Communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience with content categorization, metadata management, or library science.
- Familiarity with Netflix's content library and user interface.
- Experience with database systems or content management platforms.
- Knowledge of multiple languages is a plus.
