Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Online UPS Specialist with a strong background in technical documentation to join our team in Baltimore, MD. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing technical documentation for our Online Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. This includes user manuals, installation guides, service manuals, troubleshooting guides, and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of UPS systems, excellent writing skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation for various audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for Online UPS products, including user manuals, installation guides, service manuals, and release notes.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and support teams to gather information, understand product functionality, and ensure accuracy of content.
- Conduct thorough reviews of existing documentation for clarity, completeness, technical accuracy, and adherence to company standards.
- Identify documentation gaps and proactively propose improvements to documentation processes and tools.
- Translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage documentation projects from inception to completion, including planning, content creation, review cycles, and publication.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technical writing best practices, and new developments in UPS technology.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers regarding UPS documentation.
- Ensure all documentation complies with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a technical writer or documentation specialist, specifically with electrical systems or power electronics.
- In-depth technical knowledge of Online Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, including their components, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong emphasis on clarity, grammar, and syntax.
- Proficiency with technical writing tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, Microsoft Word, Confluence).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field.
- Familiarity with DITA or other structured authoring methodologies.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS).
- Project management experience in a technical environment.
- Certifications in technical writing or electrical systems.
