Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Environmental Scientist with a strong consulting background to join our dynamic team in New Port Richey, FL. This pivotal role will involve leading complex environmental projects, providing expert technical guidance, managing client relationships, and contributing to business development efforts. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in environmental regulations, site assessment, remediation, permitting, and natural resource management, with a proven track record in a consulting environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape environmental strategies, mentor junior staff, and drive significant impact on projects ranging from local to regional scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary environmental projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
- Provide senior-level technical expertise in areas such as wetland delineation, ecological assessment, contamination assessment, remediation design, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Prepare and review complex technical reports, proposals, scopes of work, and regulatory submissions.
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level environmental staff, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
- Lead business development initiatives, including identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and delivering presentations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Conduct site visits and field investigations as needed, often in challenging conditions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting or a related field.
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Geology, or a closely related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and Florida state environmental regulations (e.g., FDEP, ACOE, EPA).
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, including scope, schedule, and budget control.
- Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams.
- Proficiency with GIS and other environmental data management tools.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification or equivalent.
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.
- Experience with NEPA compliance and environmental impact assessment.
- Existing client relationships in the Florida market.
- Published research or presentations in relevant environmental fields.
