Job Description
Sysco is seeking a dedicated Retail Distribution Driver for local night shifts in the Worcester, MA area. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of products to our valued retail customers. As a night shift driver, you will be an essential part of our supply chain, operating commercial vehicles, and providing premium service. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle (CDL Class A or B required) to deliver food and related products to customer locations during night hours.
- Verify all products are loaded and secured according to company and safety standards prior to departure.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment; complete inspection reports.
- Unload products by hand or with material handling equipment (e.g., hand truck, pallet jack) at customer sites.
- Verify invoice and product accuracy with customers; obtain necessary signatures.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal driving regulations (DOT) and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and hours of service.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, management, and customers regarding delivery schedules or issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of company vehicles.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Clean driving record (MVR) for the past 3 years
- Ability to work night shifts and varying schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds frequently and perform repetitive physical tasks required for loading/unloading
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all traffic laws and company policies
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of commercial driving experience in a distribution or retail delivery environment
- Experience with food service or retail distribution routes
- Familiarity with local Worcester and surrounding Massachusetts routes
