Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Stagehand Assistant to join our production team for night shifts. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the ropes of live event production and contribute to the magic of theatre and concert experiences. As a Stagehand Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the setup, operation, and teardown of stage equipment, ensuring seamless productions and a safe environment for performers and crew alike. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior stagehands with the loading, unloading, and setup of theatrical and concert equipment, including set pieces, props, lighting fixtures, and sound gear.
  • Operate basic rigging systems under supervision during performances and rehearsals.
  • Perform routine stage cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Help with scene changes and prop placement during live shows.
  • Ensure all equipment is safely stored and organized after events.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and venue policies.
  • Communicate effectively with the production team, performers, and other staff members.
  • Be available for scheduled night shifts, which may include weekends and holidays.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.
  • Excellent reliability and punctuality for night shifts.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of stage safety protocols.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a theatre, concert venue, or live event setting.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Knowledge of audio, lighting, or video equipment.
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
