Job Description
Are you eager to launch your career in accounting and gain hands-on experience with industry-leading software? Grant Thornton LLP is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Virtual Bookkeeper Junior to join our growing team. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for individuals with little to no prior bookkeeping experience who are keen to learn and develop. You will receive comprehensive training on various accounting software platforms and be an integral part of supporting our client services team from the comfort of your home. This role is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the chance to contribute to diverse client portfolios across Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior bookkeepers with daily bookkeeping tasks including data entry, reconciliation of accounts, and processing transactions.
- Learn and effectively utilize various accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage) under supervision.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple clients.
- Prepare and organize financial documents, invoices, and receipts.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients (as required) in a professional manner.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed to support the accounting function.
- Adhere to company policies and accounting standards.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in accounting or business is a plus.
- Strong willingness and aptitude to learn new accounting software and processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage workload effectively.
- Reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office space.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (debits/credits).
- Previous experience with any accounting software (even personal finance apps).
- Enrollment in or completion of an accounting or bookkeeping certificate program.
