Job Description
Are you a student looking for an exciting part-time opportunity to work behind the scenes at concerts, sporting events, and various public gatherings? The Davis Conference Center is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Weekend Student Event Ushers to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy interacting with people, and are available to work weekends and some evenings. As an Usher, you will be the face of our events, ensuring guest comfort, safety, and a positive experience. This is a fantastic chance to gain valuable experience in event management and hospitality, all while being a part of the vibrant entertainment scene in Layton.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and direct them to their assigned seats or event areas with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
- Scan tickets, verify credentials, and manage entry and exit points efficiently.
- Provide information and assistance to guests regarding event schedules, venue facilities, and emergency procedures.
- Monitor assigned sections for any issues, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for all attendees.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries and resolve minor concerns, escalating complex issues to supervisors.
- Enforce venue policies and procedures to ensure compliance and guest safety.
- Assist with crowd control, maintaining clear aisles and walkways.
- Be proactive in identifying and addressing potential hazards or maintenance needs.
- Participate in pre-event briefings and post-event debriefings.
- Help with set-up and tear-down of event areas as needed.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a positive attitude.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and navigate stairs.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Must be 16 years or older.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or event support is a plus, but not required.
- Current student status (high school or college).
- Familiarity with event venues or public assembly spaces.
