Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Maritime Dock Worker with a strong focus on port logistics to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. This role is crucial for the efficient movement of cargo and materials within our port facilities. You will be responsible for various tasks including loading, unloading, sorting, and staging goods, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational procedures. This is an on-site position requiring commitment to physical labor and teamwork in a dynamic maritime environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload cargo from vessels, trucks, and railcars using various equipment and manual methods.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and other heavy machinery (training provided where necessary) safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for damage and accuracy, reporting discrepancies.
  • Sort, stack, and stage cargo in designated areas within the terminal.
  • Secure cargo for transport, including strapping, chaining, and dunnage application.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and maritime guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the dock and in storage areas.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other port personnel.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as required.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a port, warehouse, or logistics environment.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery (e.g., forklifts, reach stackers, cranes).
  • Knowledge of maritime safety regulations and procedures.
  • OSHA certification.
