Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Part-time Creche Assistant to join our dedicated team, focusing specifically on weekend shifts within our gym and leisure facilities. This vital role involves supervising children in our creche, ensuring their safety, engaging them in age-appropriate activities, and providing a positive and secure environment while their parents or guardians utilize our facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children in the creche area, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Organize and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities for children of varying ages.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe play environment, regularly sanitizing toys and equipment.
- Communicate effectively and positively with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Handle minor first aid incidents and emergencies according to established protocols.
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures for children, ensuring accurate records.
- Address parent inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
- Work collaboratively with other creche staff to provide consistent and high-quality care.
- Uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working with children in a supervisory or caregiving capacity (e.g., babysitting, camp counselor, daycare).
- Ability to engage children in a variety of activities and manage group dynamics effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual, especially for weekend shifts.
- Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate play.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a dynamic environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a gym creche or similar recreational childcare setting.
- Childcare-related certifications or coursework.
- Experience working with children with diverse needs.
- Proficiency in a second language.
