Job Description

KONE is seeking a motivated and dedicated Elevator / Escalator Modernization Helper to join our dynamic team in Toronto. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to enter a highly paid and essential trade. As a Modernization Helper, you will work alongside experienced technicians, assisting with the installation, repair, and upgrade of elevator and escalator systems. This role is physically demanding but offers comprehensive on-the-job training, a supportive work environment, and a clear path for career advancement within the industry. Safety is paramount at KONE, and you will be trained to adhere to the highest safety standards while performing your duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with the demolition, removal, and installation of elevator and escalator components during modernization projects.
  • Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
  • Perform general labour tasks, including cleaning work areas, organizing tools, and preparing sites for work.
  • Learn and apply safe work practices and procedures, always prioritizing personal and team safety.
  • Follow instructions diligently and contribute positively to the team environment.
  • Help troubleshoot and diagnose issues under direct supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and storage area.
  • Attend all required safety and technical training sessions.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn complex systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and safety guidelines (or ability to learn quickly).
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation to and from various job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in construction, skilled trades, or a similar physically demanding role.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a recognized trade school program.
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic understanding of electrical or mechanical systems.
