Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team in San Francisco. This is an immediate start position offering a desirable 4-day work week, providing an excellent work-life balance. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive urgent care services to a diverse patient population, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and patient education for a variety of acute illnesses and injuries. This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care with autonomy and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments for patients presenting with urgent care needs.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests such as X-rays, EKGs, and laboratory tests.
- Formulate diagnoses and develop appropriate treatment plans for acute illnesses and injuries.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide patient education and counseling on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment adherence.
- Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
- Manage patient flow efficiently to optimize clinic operations and patient satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Current California RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses.
- National certification as an NP (e.g., AANP, ANCC).
- Current DEA registration.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an NP in an urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care setting.
- Proficiency in performing minor procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting, I&D).
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kaiser Permanente's electronic health record system (Epic).
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish or Cantonese).
- Experience working in a large, integrated healthcare system.
