Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Patient Trolley Porters to join our dynamic team at Royal Berkshire Hospital. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of patients, medical equipment, and other items across our busy hospital campus. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport patients via trolley, wheelchair, or bed to various departments within the hospital.
- Move medical equipment, specimens, notes, and other items as required.
- Ensure the comfort and dignity of patients at all times, offering reassurance and support.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, including cleaning and storing trolleys and equipment.
- Respond promptly to requests from medical and nursing staff.
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff members.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and hospital policies.
- Assist with patient transfers, ensuring correct manual handling techniques are applied.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina for prolonged periods of walking, pushing, and lifting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service environment.
- Knowledge of hospital layouts and procedures.
- First Aid certification.
- NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Health and Social Care.
