Job Description
Are you a curious and aspiring researcher eager to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting? Google is seeking a Junior UI/UX Researcher for a student placement in Leeds. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting user research studies (e.g., usability testing, interviews, surveys) to gather insights into user behavior and needs.
- Recruit and screen participants for research studies, ensuring a diverse and representative sample.
- Observe and meticulously document user behavior during research sessions, noting key interactions and pain points.
- Support data analysis efforts, identifying key themes, patterns, and actionable insights from qualitative and quantitative data.
- Contribute to the creation of clear and concise research reports, compelling presentations, and data-driven design recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with UI/UX designers, product managers, and engineers to translate research findings into practical and impactful design solutions.
- Help maintain and organize research tools, databases, and resources to ensure smooth operation of research activities.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Design, or a closely related field.
- Basic understanding of qualitative and/or quantitative user research methodologies and their application.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to synthesize information from various sources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- A genuine passion for technology, user experience, and a desire to improve digital products through research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous academic or personal project experience with research tools (e.g., Qualtrics, UserTesting, Figma) or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS, Excel for data analysis) or data visualization tools.
- Coursework or practical project experience specifically in UI/UX design principles and processes.
- A portfolio showcasing academic projects or personal work related to user research or design, demonstrating your approach and findings.
