Job Description
Join FedEx as a Cross-Docking Associate in our Akron facility. This pivotal role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced logistics environment. You will be instrumental in the swift and efficient movement of goods, ensuring packages are processed quickly from inbound to outbound, minimizing storage time. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently unload inbound freight from trucks and trailers, verifying contents against shipping documents.
- Rapidly sort and stage packages for immediate outbound loading, prioritizing time-sensitive shipments.
- Operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) safely and efficiently, if certified or trained.
- Scan and document all incoming and outgoing packages accurately using handheld devices and internal systems.
- Ensure proper loading techniques to maximize space, optimize weight distribution, and prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety standards and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve daily productivity and efficiency goals.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity.
- Basic literacy and numerical skills for reading labels and completing simple documentation.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and reach for extended periods.
- Commitment to following all safety protocols and operating procedures.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for team success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, logistics, or cross-docking environment.
- Experience operating powered industrial trucks (e.g., forklift, electric pallet jack) with valid certification.
- Familiarity with RF scanning equipment and warehouse management systems.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
