Job Description
Join the University of Sunderland’s dedicated team as a Historical Document Tagger for our ambitious Digital Archive Project. This role is pivotal in transforming physical historical documents into accessible digital formats. You will be responsible for accurately classifying, indexing, and tagging a diverse range of historical materials, ensuring their proper organization and metadata enrichment. Key Responsibilities
- Carefully handle and prepare historical documents for digitization.
- Accurately tag and categorize documents based on predefined taxonomies and guidelines.
- Perform quality control checks on digitized images and associated metadata.
- Input detailed descriptive metadata for each item into the digital archive system.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, damage, or issues with documents or data.
- Collaborate with archivists and project managers to ensure consistency and adherence to project standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive historical materials.
- Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of tagging guidelines and workflows.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in handling historical documents or delicate materials.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and data entry.
