Job Description

Are you passionate about sound and eager to start your career in audio production? Rooster Teeth is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Audio Assistant to join our dynamic team in Austin, TX. This entry-level position is perfect for someone with little to no prior professional experience, offering an unparalleled opportunity to learn the ropes of audio production from seasoned professionals. You will assist our audio engineers and designers in various stages of production, gaining hands-on experience in recording, editing, mixing, and sound design for our diverse range of content, including podcasts, animation, live-action shorts, and gaming videos. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior audio engineers with setup, breakdown, and operation of audio equipment for recording sessions (dialogue, foley, music).
  • Support in basic audio editing tasks, including noise reduction, dialogue cleanup, and sound effect placement.
  • Organize and maintain audio assets, ensuring proper labeling and archiving.
  • Prepare audio files for mix, ensuring all tracks are properly gain-staged and free of obvious errors.
  • Conduct quality control checks on finished audio content for consistency and technical accuracy.
  • Learn and apply best practices in audio engineering and sound design under direct supervision.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of audio studios and equipment storage areas.
  • Provide general administrative support to the audio department as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for audio and sound production.
  • Basic understanding of audio principles and acoustics.
  • Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or Logic Pro X (personal project experience is a plus).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and learn quickly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive attitude and a willingness to tackle new challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed or currently pursuing a degree/certificate in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Film Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience with basic microphone techniques and audio recording setups.
  • Personal projects showcasing sound design, mixing, or recording abilities.
  • Experience with various audio plugins and virtual instruments.
  • Familiarity with video production workflows.
