Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Financial Analyst with a strong focus on advanced Excel skills to join our dynamic team in Boston. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual early in their career to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, reporting, and modeling within a fast-paced and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of financial principles and a passion for data analysis using Excel as a primary tool.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex financial models, forecasts, and budgets using advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, financial functions, macros).
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for internal stakeholders, highlighting key trends and insights.
- Assist in the analysis of financial performance, identifying variances and providing explanations.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the finance function.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 1+ years of experience in financial analysis or a related quantitative role
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, data visualization, and pivot tables
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with VBA for Excel automation
- Experience with financial reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion)
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Relevant internship experience in financial services or a corporate finance department
- Progress towards relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA)
