Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist Trainee to join our Lab Support team in Santa Maria, CA. In this entry-level, full-time position, you will receive comprehensive training to become a skilled phlebotomist, crucial for supporting various internal health and wellness initiatives. This role involves direct patient interaction for blood collection, meticulous sample handling, and contributing to the efficient operation of our lab services. You will work under the supervision of experienced professionals, learning best practices in patient care, venipuncture techniques, and laboratory protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete phlebotomy training and certification requirements.
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on employees following established safety protocols and standards.
  • Accurately label and prepare biological specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Maintain accurate records of all collected samples and patient information.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and work areas.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor with all individuals.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Assist with general laboratory support tasks as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently under supervision
  • Basic computer proficiency (data entry, record keeping)

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or completion of a Phlebotomy training program
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Prior experience in a customer service or healthcare setting
  • Current CPR certification
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
