Job Description

Vets4Pets Plymouth is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kennel Assistant to join our friendly team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with no prior experience in a professional animal care setting. We are looking for someone eager to learn, who possesses a strong work ethic and a genuine love for animals. You will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort, health, and happiness of our inpatients and boarders, contributing to the smooth operation of our busy practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and well-being.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all kennelled animals, including regular cleaning of kennels, cages, and common areas.
- Assisting veterinary nurses and veterinarians with animal handling and restraint during examinations and treatments.
- Administering medications as directed by veterinary staff.
- Washing and grooming animals as needed.
- Monitoring animal behavior and reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
- Ensuring all animals have fresh bedding and comfortable surroundings.
- Assisting with laundry duties and maintaining cleanliness of clinic equipment.
- Providing compassionate attention and exercise to animals.
Required Skills

- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-player attitude.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with animals (personal pets, volunteering, etc.).
- Knowledge of basic animal behavior and welfare.
- A relevant animal care qualification (e.g., Level 1 Animal Care Assistant Certificate) is a plus, but not essential.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
