Job Description
Join XPO Logistics as a Local P&D Driver, playing a vital role in our Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) operations. This full-time position offers the stability of a dedicated fleet, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to be part of a team that keeps the economy moving. You will be responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of freight within a defined local service area, interacting directly with customers and representing the XPO brand with professionalism and efficiency. We are looking for experienced drivers who prioritize safety, customer service, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) to transport LTL freight to and from customer locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on your truck and trailer, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Load and unload freight using various equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Verify cargo for accuracy against shipping documents; inspect for damage and report discrepancies.
- Secure freight properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, and other team members.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery receipts, and other paperwork electronically and/or manually.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 24 months of verifiable Class A driving experience
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Clean driving record (MVR)
- Ability to lift, push, and pull freight weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Excellent understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LTL freight operations
- Forklift certification
- Knowledge of local geographical area (Wesley Chapel, FL and surrounding regions)
