Job Description
Join our dedicated team at CVS Health as an Outpatient Pharmacy Technician in a busy retail setting. This is a critical role that supports our pharmacists in providing top-notch patient care and ensuring the efficient operation of our pharmacy. You will be at the forefront of customer interaction, managing prescriptions, and maintaining a well-organized and compliant pharmacy environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including counting, pouring, measuring, and mixing
- Process prescription orders, including data entry, insurance claim submissions, and resolving basic billing issues
- Provide excellent customer service, answer patient questions, and address concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating pharmaceutical supplies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspace, adhering to all state and federal regulations
- Operate cash registers and handle patient transactions accurately
- Assist with immunizations and other patient services as directed by the pharmacist
- Support the overall efficiency of the pharmacy by performing various administrative and operational tasks
Required Skills
- Current Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician license
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification (e.g., from PTCB or NHA)
- Previous experience in a retail pharmacy setting (1+ year)
- Knowledge of third-party insurance and prescription billing procedures
- Experience with sterile compounding or IV admixture
