Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and creative Packaging Design & Structural Intern to join our Corrugated division in Estevan, Saskatchewan. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design and development of corrugated packaging solutions. You will work alongside experienced designers and engineers, contributing to real-world projects from concept to prototype. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about packaging innovation, structural design, and sustainable materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers in developing innovative structural designs for corrugated packaging.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., ArtiosCAD) to create accurate 2D and 3D designs and specifications.
  • Produce physical prototypes and mock-ups for testing and client presentations.
  • Conduct research on new materials, design trends, and manufacturing techniques relevant to corrugated packaging.
  • Collaborate with sales, production, and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and optimal performance.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide creative input.
  • Document design processes, specifications, and project updates.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD software for structural design (e.g., ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of design principles and structural integrity.
  • Excellent spatial reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to translate 2D concepts into 3D models and physical prototypes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to a dynamic design team.
  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from a program in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with corrugated board properties and manufacturing processes.
  • Previous experience with digital printing or cutting tables.
  • Portfolio showcasing structural design projects or relevant coursework.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainable packaging principles.
