Job Description
As a Remote Apple Developer at Monzo, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our award-winning iOS application. You will contribute to every stage of the software development lifecycle, ensuring our users have the best possible experience with their finances. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact from anywhere in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI/UIKit.
- Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and backend engineers to define, design, and ship new features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and Monzo's coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and foster knowledge sharing within the team.
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues, bugs, and other software defects in a timely manner.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Apple technologies, platform changes, and industry trends.
- Contribute to technical architecture discussions and strategic planning for the iOS platform roadmap.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Swift and the iOS SDK.
- Strong understanding of architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, VIPER, Clean Architecture).
- Extensive experience with SwiftUI and/or UIKit for building user interfaces.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end services.
- Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Solid understanding of mobile UI/UX best practices and principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Objective-C is a plus, for legacy codebases or interoperability.
- Knowledge of mobile security best practices and data protection.
- Experience with unit and UI testing frameworks (e.g., XCTest, XCUITest).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications (e.g., Fastlane, Jenkins).
- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of personal apps on the App Store.
- Prior experience working within the FinTech industry or regulated environments.
