Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Senior Social Worker to join our Adult Social Work team in Portadown. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a significant impact on the lives of adults requiring support. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in assessing needs, developing care plans, and safeguarding vulnerable adults within the community. You will manage a complex caseload, work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive social care assessments for adults, including those with complex needs, disabilities, and mental health challenges.
  • Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with service users, their families, and other professionals.
  • Act as a lead professional in safeguarding adults, responding to concerns, conducting investigations, and implementing protective measures.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and support to junior colleagues and contribute to their professional development.
  • Manage and prioritise a demanding caseload, ensuring all statutory duties and organisational policies are met.
  • Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with health professionals, voluntary organisations, and other agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with Trust policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in duty rotas and contribute to service development initiatives.
  • Advocate for service users' rights and promote their independence and wellbeing.

Required Skills

  • Degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW, BA Hons Social Work, or equivalent).
  • Current registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) or eligibility for immediate registration.
  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualifying experience in adult social care.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant social care legislation and policies (e.g., Mental Capacity Act, Adult Safeguarding Policy).
  • Proven ability to undertake complex assessments, formulate robust care plans, and manage risk effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant social care specialism.
  • Experience in supervising or mentoring social work students or newly qualified social workers.
  • Specialist experience in areas such as learning disabilities, older people, or physical disabilities.
  • Experience with case management systems and electronic record keeping.
