Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and proficient Transcription Clerk with a strong medical focus to join our remote team. This is a contract position, paid per word, ideal for individuals with exceptional listening skills, fast and accurate typing abilities, and a solid understanding of medical terminology. You will be responsible for transcribing dictated medical reports, clinical notes, and other healthcare-related audio files into written documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to confidentiality standards. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to manage your schedule while contributing to vital healthcare documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe audio recordings of medical dictations accurately and efficiently.
- Identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Verify the accuracy of patient information, medical terms, and drug names.
- Adhere strictly to patient confidentiality and HIPAA/PIPEDA guidelines.
- Utilize medical reference materials to ensure the correct spelling of complex terms and names.
- Meet daily production targets and quality standards.
- Manage and prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of assignments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
Required Skills
- Exceptional listening and comprehension skills.
- High level of proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Fast and accurate typing speed (minimum 70 WPM with high accuracy).
- Proficiency with transcription software and word processing tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data security (HIPAA/PIPEDA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in medical transcription or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Completion of a medical transcription training program or certification (e.g., AHDI).
- Familiarity with various medical specialties and report types.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
