Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and organized WFH Records Officer to join our team, supporting a critical government project. This is a 100% remote position, offering stability and the opportunity to contribute to significant public sector initiatives from the comfort of your home office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining official records in compliance with established government guidelines and regulations. You will ensure the integrity, accessibility, and confidentiality of vital information, playing a key role in the smooth operation of our client’s programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain physical and electronic records, ensuring adherence to government records management policies and procedures.
  • Classify, index, store, and retrieve records accurately and efficiently using designated records management systems.
  • Conduct regular audits of records to ensure compliance, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Process requests for information, ensuring timely and appropriate access while safeguarding sensitive data.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of records retention schedules and disposition plans.
  • Provide training and guidance to project staff on records management best practices and system usage.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective information flow and record-keeping.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of records management processes and digital transformation initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in records management or information governance, preferably within a government or highly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of records management principles, practices, and relevant Canadian legislation (e.g., Access to Information Act, Privacy Act).
  • Proficiency with electronic document and records management systems (EDRMS).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, demonstrating strong self-discipline and time management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Library and Information Science, Archival Studies, or a related field.
  • Certification in Records Management (e.g., CRM) or Information Governance.
  • Experience with specific government records management platforms or tools.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices related to information handling.
