Job Description

Are you passionate about wine, or eager to learn, and looking for a rewarding part-time role? Majestic Wine in Croydon is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Tasting Room Pourer for weekend shifts. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves interacting with people, has a natural curiosity about wine, and is keen to develop their knowledge in a supportive and fun environment. No extensive prior wine experience is required – we’re looking for potential and a willingness to learn! You will be a key part of our weekend operations, engaging with customers and enhancing their in-store tasting experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Pour wine samples during in-store tasting events and general visits, explaining varietals and origins.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tasting area and associated equipment.
  • Provide basic information about our product range and current promotions.
  • Assist customers with their selections and direct them to sales assistants for further assistance.
  • Handle stock replenishment in the tasting area as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws regarding alcohol service.

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A genuine interest in wine and a desire to learn more.
  • Reliable and punctual, with availability to work weekend shifts (Saturdays and/or Sundays).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer-centric approach with a positive attitude.
  • Must be over the legal drinking age for serving alcohol in the UK (18+).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a retail, hospitality, or customer service role.
  • Basic knowledge of wine regions, grapes, or tasting notes (but not essential, training provided).
  • Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and engaging with customers.
