Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Transcriptionist to join our remote team. This position requires meticulous transcription of medical dictations, adhering strictly to HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient data confidentiality. The ideal candidate will possess excellent listening skills, a strong grasp of medical terminology, and the ability to produce accurate and timely reports from the comfort of their home office. This is a crucial role supporting our healthcare providers, ensuring accurate medical records that are essential for patient care and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports, including patient histories, physicals, operative reports, consultation notes, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure 100% accuracy in transcription, identifying and clarifying inconsistencies, discrepancies, or missing information directly with healthcare providers as needed.
- Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality protocols in all aspects of work.
- Utilize medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology knowledge to accurately interpret and transcribe complex medical information.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical records standards and legal requirements.
- Manage and prioritize a diverse workload to meet deadlines and turnaround times.
- Perform quality assurance checks on transcribed documents to ensure error-free output.
- Operate and maintain transcription equipment and software proficiently.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist.
- Proven expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- In-depth understanding and strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Exceptional listening and communication skills.
- Proficiency in typing with a high WPM (words per minute) and accuracy.
- Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Proficient with transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification from an accredited Medical Transcription program.
- Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Allscripts.
- AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity) certification (RMT or CMT).
- Prior experience working in a large multi-specialty healthcare system.
