Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and diligent Government Building Porter to join our team at a secure government facility in Bristol City Centre. This crucial role ensures the smooth day-to-day operations of the building, providing essential support services while strictly adhering to security protocols. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of porterage, logistical, and general support duties, contributing to a safe, clean, and efficient working environment. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine porterage duties, including the movement of furniture, equipment, and supplies within the facility.
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and distribution of deliveries, mail, and packages, ensuring secure handling at all times.
- Support the setup and clear-down of meeting rooms, conference spaces, and event areas.
- Conduct regular checks of communal areas to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety standards are met.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or security concerns promptly to the relevant supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all site-specific security procedures, access control policies, and health and safety regulations.
- Provide general assistance to staff and visitors, maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor.
- Operate basic equipment and tools safely and effectively as required for duties.
Required Skills
- Proven physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving items.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and eligibility to undergo and pass a comprehensive government security clearance check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a porter, facilities, or similar logistical support role.
- Experience working within a secure environment, government building, or public sector setting.
- A valid UK Driving License.
- Basic IT literacy for simple record-keeping.
