Job Description
Are you passionate about technology and enjoy helping others? We are looking for a dedicated Laptop Home Setup Aide to join our team in Wolverhampton. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for customers needing assistance with their new laptop setups, ensuring smooth and efficient connectivity for internet, peripherals, and software. You will provide essential technical support directly in customers’ homes, making technology accessible and easy to use for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer homes within the Wolverhampton area to provide on-site technical assistance.
- Set up new laptops, including operating system configuration, software installation, and peripheral connections (printers, external monitors, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve common connectivity issues with Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, and internet services.
- Educate customers on basic laptop usage, maintenance, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Assist with data transfer from old devices to new laptops.
- Provide clear, patient, and friendly explanations of technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Document services performed and customer interactions accurately.
- Adhere to all company policies and safety protocols while working in customer homes.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of laptop hardware and software, including Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Proficiency in setting up and troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and internet connectivity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- A valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a technical support, customer service, or field service role.
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent technical certification.
- Familiarity with smart home devices and their integration with laptops.
- Experience with various internet service providers (ISPs) and their equipment.
