Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Art & Design Teacher to join our dynamic Arts department at Budmouth Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire and nurture students’ artistic talents across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, potentially extending to Key Stage 5 for suitable candidates. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons, fostering a love for art, and supporting students in achieving their full potential. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Art & Design lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).
- Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning and progress of all students, providing constructive feedback.
- Develop and implement a creative and challenging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students.
- Contribute to the development of departmental schemes of work and resources.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
- Support students in preparing for public examinations and portfolios.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and contribute positively to the school community.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Art, Design, Fine Art, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Art & Design at secondary school level (KS3 and KS4).
- Excellent subject knowledge and passion for Art & Design.
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to inspire students.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Art & Design at Key Stage 5 (A-Level).
- Experience with digital art software and technologies.
- Evidence of continuing professional development in Art & Design education.
- Prior experience working in a diverse school environment.
