Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and hands-on Assembly Technician with an electronic focus to join our growing home services team in Liverpool. This role primarily involves the professional assembly of IKEA standing/sit desks, which often incorporate complex electronic components for height adjustment and power management. You will be responsible for ensuring each desk is assembled to the highest standards, fully functional, and safely installed in customers’ homes or businesses. Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble IKEA standing/sit desks and other furniture items according to manufacturer specifications and diagrams.
  • Install and troubleshoot electronic components such as control panels, motors, and wiring for height-adjustable desks.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure all assembled items are stable, secure, and fully functional.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding assembly process, potential issues, and completion times.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area at customer locations.
  • Handle tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Provide basic operational guidance to customers on their new electronic desks.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to follow complex assembly instructions and diagrams.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and wiring for consumer products.
  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift and manoeuvre furniture components.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with furniture assembly, particularly IKEA products.
  • Prior experience working with standing desks or other electronically adjustable furniture.
  • Customer service experience in a field-based role.
  • Certification in basic electronics or relevant trade skills.
