Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and language-savvy individual to join our team as a Language Learning App Validator. This is a 100% remote position, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere. As a Validator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and cultural appropriateness of content within the Duolingo language learning application. You will be responsible for meticulously reviewing lessons, exercises, and translations across various languages, identifying errors, and providing detailed feedback to our content development teams. Your keen eye for detail and deep understanding of language nuances will directly impact the learning experience of millions of users worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Rigorously review and validate language learning content, including lessons, exercises, and example sentences, for grammatical correctness, lexical accuracy, and naturalness.
- Identify and document any linguistic errors, inconsistencies, or ambiguities in translations and original content.
- Provide constructive and detailed feedback to content creators and localization teams.
- Ensure content adheres to Duolingo's pedagogical guidelines and stylistic standards.
- Assess cultural appropriateness and relevance of content for target audiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and content, to improve app quality.
- Participate in testing new features and content releases to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of linguistic best practices and language trends.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native fluency in English and at least one additional language (e.g., Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese).
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
- Proficient understanding of grammar, syntax, and semantics in multiple languages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Comfortable using digital tools and platforms for content review and feedback.
- Passion for languages, learning, and education technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Languages, Translation, or a related field.
- Prior experience in language teaching, translation, localization, or quality assurance.
- Familiarity with the Duolingo app or other language learning platforms.
- Experience with content management systems or bug tracking tools.
