Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically capable Maritime Dock Worker to join our Port Logistics team. This entry-level position is crucial to the efficient movement of cargo and vessels through the Port of Pasco. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to loading, unloading, securing, and organizing freight, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely. This role offers an excellent opportunity to start a career in the maritime and logistics industry, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo from ships, barges, trucks, and railcars using various equipment and manual methods.
- Secure cargo on docks and vessels using appropriate lashing gear, ropes, and chains.
- Operate forklifts, reach stackers, and other heavy machinery after proper training and certification.
- Perform general labor tasks, including cleaning docks, maintaining equipment, and preparing work areas.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing cargo for damage and ensure proper documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, port procedures, and environmental guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and vessel crew.
- Participate in ongoing training and safety drills as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of English for communication and instruction.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
