Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally talented and detail-oriented Mastering Engineer to join our acclaimed team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of audio mastering principles, a meticulous ear, and a proven track record of delivering pristine, radio-ready masters. You will be responsible for the final sonic polish of diverse musical projects, ensuring optimal playback across all platforms and translating artistic vision into a polished, professional sound. This role requires a blend of technical mastery, artistic sensitivity, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with artists and producers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality audio mastering for a variety of musical genres and projects.
  • Utilize a comprehensive suite of analog and digital mastering tools to achieve sonic excellence.
  • Ensure consistent loudness, dynamic range, tonal balance, and clarity across all tracks.
  • Prepare and deliver final masters in various formats (e.g., WAV, AIFF, DDP, MFiT) according to industry standards and client specifications.
  • Conduct quality control checks to identify and correct any technical imperfections.
  • Collaborate closely with artists, producers, and internal teams to understand and realize their sonic vision.
  • Maintain and calibrate mastering equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Stay current with the latest mastering technologies, techniques, and industry trends.
  • Archive project files and masters securely.
  • Provide technical advice and support to clients regarding mastering processes and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of professional audio mastering experience.
  • Expert proficiency with industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and mastering software (e.g., WaveLab, Sequoia, Pro Tools).
  • In-depth knowledge of audio processing techniques including EQ, compression, limiting, saturation, and stereo imaging.
  • Exceptional critical listening skills and a highly trained ear for sonic detail.
  • Solid understanding of acoustics, signal flow, and digital audio principles.
  • Familiarity with various audio codecs, delivery formats, and streaming platform specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with analog mastering hardware (e.g., Manley, Dangerous Music, Pultec).
  • Knowledge of DDP authoring and metadata embedding.
  • Prior experience working in a professional studio environment.
  • Familiarity with acoustic treatment and studio calibration best practices.
  • Portfolio of mastered projects demonstrating diverse genre experience.
