Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Learning Support Aide to join our thriving team. This is a crucial role supporting students with a range of learning needs within our inclusive school environment. Working term-time only, you will provide vital assistance in the classroom, helping students to access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be passionate about education, possess excellent communication skills, and be committed to fostering a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring they can access and engage with the curriculum.
- Assist teachers in preparing resources and adapting materials to meet individual student needs.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student independence and self-esteem.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as required.
- Support students during break times, lunchtimes, and during extracurricular activities.
- Assist with personal care needs where necessary, maintaining dignity and respect.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning and development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Basic understanding of child development and learning processes.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent.
- Experience working with specific SEND needs (e.g., Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, dyslexia).
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and first aid certification.
- Proficiency in using educational technology to support learning.
